About ZUS Coffee

ZUS Coffee is one of Southeast Asia’s most exciting coffee success stories. Founded in Malaysia with a mission to make specialty coffee accessible to everyone, captured in their tagline “Specialty Coffee for All”, the brand has grown rapidly to over 1,000 outlets internationally. Their loyal community of customers, known as Zuristas, has been central to this remarkable growth.

With a proven model built on quality, consistency, and value, ZUS Coffee has set its sights on Indonesia, the world’s fourth most populous country and one of ASEAN’s most vibrant consumer markets. In 2026, that vision became reality with the opening of their first physical store in Puri Indah, Jakarta.

The Challenge: Establishing Operations in a New Market

Entering Indonesia as an international F&B brand is an exciting but operationally complex undertaking. Beyond the product and customer experience, a business must rapidly build its compliance infrastructure: registering employees under the national social security system, establishing clean financial reporting under Indonesian tax law, and ensuring all legal obligations are met from the moment the store opens.

For a team laser-focused on delivering a great coffee experience to their new Indonesian customers, dealing with these layers of regulatory requirements in an unfamiliar environment would have been a significant distraction. ZUS Coffee needed a reliable, experienced local partner to take ownership of these critical functions from day one.

Our Ongoing Support: What Business Hub Asia Is Doing

Business Hub Asia is actively supporting ZUS Coffee Indonesia’s operations across three core areas. This is not a one-off engagement; it is a continuing partnership that grows alongside their business.

1. Payroll Management and BPJS Registration

Managing the payroll and social security compliance for a frontline retail team requires both precision and consistency. Business Hub Asia runs the monthly payroll cycle for ZUS Coffee Indonesia, ensuring every Zurista is paid accurately and on schedule.

Our BPJS support for ZUS Coffee spans both required programmes:

  • BPJS Kesehatan (health insurance): Business Hub Asia manages enrollment on behalf of ZUS Coffee, ensuring employees are covered under the national health insurance programme in full compliance with Indonesian labor law.
  • BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (employment social security): Our team is coordinating enrollment as part of the broader compliance build-out for ZUS Coffee’s Indonesian entity.

This reflects the reality of establishing operations in a new market: compliance is built systematically and methodically, giving ZUS Coffee a solid foundation as its Indonesian entity grows.

2. Accounting and Tax

From the moment operations commenced, Business Hub Asia established a structured financial reporting system for ZUS Coffee Indonesia. Our team handles monthly bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, and corporate income tax compliance under the Directorate General of Taxes.

These services are ongoing and run on a regular monthly cycle. Having transparent, audit-ready financials from the outset is essential for any brand planning to scale in Indonesia, and our team ensures ZUS Coffee maintains that standard consistently.

3. Legal Advisory

Entering Indonesia as a foreign-affiliated brand requires careful navigation of business licensing, corporate structuring, and ongoing regulatory requirements. For ZUS Coffee, this extended to a detailed review of their consumer-facing policies.

Three core consumer-facing policies were reviewed, amended for compliance with Indonesian law, and professionally translated into Bahasa Indonesia. The engagement was formally closed on 14 May 2026 upon written confirmation from the ZUS Coffee team.

A Collaborative Effort with Product Registration Indonesia

This engagement is also a proud collaboration within the MMW Strategic Group. Our sister company, Product Registration Indonesia (PRI), is currently supporting ZUS Coffee through the Halal certification process, a critical step for any F&B brand operating in Indonesia. On 22 June 2026, PRI reached a significant milestone in this journey: the successful completion of the first Halal internal audit, also known as a gap analysis. This foundational step assesses ZUS Coffee’s current compliance position against BPJPH requirements and maps the path to full certification.

The coordination between BHA and PRI means ZUS Coffee benefits from end-to-end operational and regulatory support under one trusted group, with each workstream progressing in parallel.

A Partnership We Are Proud Of

The opening of ZUS Coffee’s first physical store in Puri Indah, Jakarta marks the beginning of a chapter we are genuinely excited to be part of. Building operational infrastructure in a new market is unglamorous work, but it is foundational. Every payroll run, every tax filing, every compliance step we manage creates the conditions for ZUS Coffee to grow confidently and sustainably in Indonesia.

We are deeply grateful for the trust ZUS Coffee has placed in our team, and we look forward to continuing this partnership as their Indonesian presence grows.
