Process and Timeline
1
Document Collection and Verification
BPOM Registration requires determining product category and production origin, outlining distribution, and gathering documents such as NIB, SIUP, NPWP, GMP certification, Certificate of Analysis, and product labeling. Estimated Time: 5-7 working days.
2
Application Submission
Fill out the registration form online through the e-BPOM system and upload all required documents. Estimated Time: 1 working days.
3
Evaluation and Audit by BPOM
BPOM will review the documents, conduct an evaluation, and if required, conduct an audit of the production or distribution facility. BPOM needs around 14-30 working days, depending on the complexity of the product and the completeness of the documents.
4
Issuance of Edar License Number (NIE)
After all processes are completed and approved, BPOM will issue an NIE, which is valid for 5 years and can be extended. Estimated Time: 2-3 working days after approval.
*The total time required to obtain a BPOM license is about 1-2 months.
Important Consideration
- Not all products require BPOM registration. Certain products may fall under distribution permits from other agencies (halal certification, PIRT, etc.).
- Imported products must have an official appointment letter from the principal as the distribution license holder in Indonesia.
- Mislabeling or product claims may result in the denial of registration.
- BPOM registration number is mandatory for product distribution in retail stores, pharmacies, marketplaces, and modern trade.
